Wot no 'ed?
PGCE student measuring the height of a tree by looking back through legs at the top of the tree to get an approx angle of 45 degrees. Then measures distance to bottom of tree and by some high powered maths (isosceles triangle) knew that the height of the tree was her distance from it !
