I am sure that you are right and am convinced by the person who owns these that they will pay for themselves in the medium/long term. However, if he wishes to move house the buyers have got to think similarly and be prepared for upkeep etc. He says that even on the dullest days the electricity generated is more than enough for their personal needs.
I feel sure that this small-scale, personal generation will be more of a 'built-in' than a 'bolt-on' in the future much the same as piped water, sewage removal, gas/electric, telephone, broadband cable ...
Why aren't they compulsory? Wouldn't they become cheaper as demand increased? A bit like large LCD and LED screens?
